One of the guiding principles that has defined my life is the belief that when you find something of value it is your duty to share it with someone else. This has been one of the principal reasons I have found myself in a life of community service in the non-profit industry and fundraising.

Here are a few of the lessons, that I have learned so far.

1) You will make mistakes.
2) You will learn from your mistakes.
3) You will sometimes have to apologize and make things right.

4) You will need to listen.
5) You will need to trust others.
6) You will need to be honest and forthcoming.

7) You will need a sense of humour.

8) It’s always all about people.
